According to a report by the world-renowned Guardian, the Yamhill County’s DA’s office may have spent money specifically meant for addiction services on an office remodel.
When asked for comment, the County Counsel for the Yamhill County Commissioners, Christian Boenisch, was unfamiliar with the report. But after a brief overview of the Guardian article said, “I don’t have a comment.”
The report, which was released earlier today, specifically mentions two items in which Yamhill County’s DA’s office used funds meant for addiction services. The first, the salary for a district attorney to deal with “pursuing criminal charges”, which totaled $124,304. And the second item was for a district attorney’s office “remodel”, which totaled $4,267.
The funds in question were distributed by the State Of Oregon to address a gap in addiction services and to help connect individuals to available treatment options. And it should be noted that Yamhill County was the only county to be specifically mentioned in the Guardian report as spending a portion of the allotment on a remodel of a District Attorney’s office.
At the time of this publication, the YCDA’s office has not yet gotten back to us with a comment. If I hear from, I’ll be sure to update.
