Local Head Start Waiting To Find Out If Funding Is Impacted

Earlier today, Oregon Senator Wyden stated that his office had been receiving reports that some Head Start organizations in Oregon were unable to access their federal funds.

I just got off the phone (3:10 PM) with the local Executive Director, Suey Linzmeier- As of now, they’re holding their breath while waiting to find out if they are also impacted. But, it was stated that the Head Start of Yamhill County has **roughly** enough money through the end of April.

Head Start is a federally funded program that provides early childhood education five days a week to low-income children ages 0-5. Even a brief pause in funding could leave local families scrambling for pre-K care and could potentially cause layoffs across Yamhill County, increasing the local unemployment rate.
